Living and Studying in Bath
Bath was established by the Romans as a spa resort due to its natural hot springs, which were thought to have healing properties. The Romans built the historic Baths which can still be seen today and attract a large number tourists each year.
During the Georgian era the spa resort developed into the city we know today. The city of Bath was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1987 and the spectacular Georgian architecture crafted from Bath stone makes it one of Europe’s most renowned and beautiful cities.
Bath attracts many visitors every year to explore the boutiques and high street shops as well as the rich history including Bath Abbey and beautiful architecture. The Thermae Spa allows visitors to experience a modern take on the Roman ritual of ‘taking the waters’. Bath is a lively and vibrant city with a large student population due to its two universities. Its history, combined with numerous cafes and bars, a thriving arts culture, with theatres, museums and festivals throughout the year make the city an exciting and inspirational place in which to live and study.
Bath has excellent transportation links being close to both the M4 and M5 motorways. London is only 11/2 hours away by train and Bristol only 15 minutes. There are excellent links to beautiful countryside including the bordering Cotswolds.
