student support and development

During their time at Norland, students benefit from a number of services that provide them with guidance and support.

A Personal Tutor is appointed to each student at the beginning of the course. The Tutor is there to offer advice for any study related, practical or personal problem that may be encountered.

Student counsellor - The college provides an independent and confidential counselling service for students.

Out of hours support - In the case of an emergency, a member of Norland College staff is on call for students to contact, every night and at weekends during term time.

Student health - Students are encouraged to register with a local GP. Information is provided in the college Resource Centre.

First Aid training is provided for students by ABC Medical Services. The training includes a course which has been specially designed for people who work with children.

Many Norland students are interested in developing their skills to assist them in caring for children with special needs. As a result of this interest, the college offers a deaf awareness Level 1 course NCFC 'Communication in sign' . The course is held at the college on one evening each week.

Accommodation

Personal development - Norland training goes well beyond classroom and textbook theory. During the course, students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities both inside and outside College. As demands for childcare services grow and develop, Norland is keen to ensure that the structure of training keeps pace with the demands of today's world.
