Teacher

A new challenge
everyday

After several years of nannying, some Norland graduates decide that teaching is the route for them. With your Norland degree behind you, you can apply for a teacher training course and become an early years teacher; working in nurseries, pre-schools, reception classes or as a primary school teacher, teaching older children in years 1-6 (ages 5-11) key stage 1 and key stage 2 of the national curriculum.

Watch the short film about Helen who completed her teacher training at Bath Spa University. Helen now teaches in a reception class in a school in Twickenham and is loving it:

“Nannying has proved to be the perfect route into teaching. On my first week of teaching I did 30 home visits and felt extremely comfortable in the home environment and really able to relate to how the parents felt and what they wanted to know. Teaching provides a new challenge every day - it is everything and more than I'd hoped for.”
